Land of Enchantment
New Mexico
New Mexico officially became the 47th state in 1912 and has blended itself in a state of the art 21st century destination with exquisite upscale affordable restaurants, points of interest like the legendary Georgia O'Keefe Museum, opera houses, targeted entertainment like the Albuquerque Aquarium featuring their signature shark tank, International Hot Air Ballooning Festival ("to air is human"), white water rafting, horseback riding, mountain biking, zoo, wineries, and a breathtaking ride on the Sandia Park Tramway. At 2.7 miles, it is the world's longest aerial tram.
Highlighting breathtaking views, complemented with unbelievable refreshing crisp clean air, New Mexico offers an ambient environment and atmosphere sure to capture one's taste for adventure with a primal cultural uniqueness only indigenous to this magnificent vista of the great American southwest.
Having played four of the infamous Santa Fe Trail Tracts, Twin Warriors, Black Mesa, Sandia, and privately owned Paako Ridge, a brief synopsis should capsulize the essence of competition, with individual courses striving to outdistance neighboring pueblo golf properties for bragging rights. More...
Give Me Land, Lots of Land! at Twin Warriors Golf Club and Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort and Spa You can blaze your own trail with horse rides to Pueblo backcountry, try your own brand of golf at Twin Warriors Golf Club, enjoy the breathtaking views, or sit back and relax at the spa.
Rejuvenate your "Mind, Body and Spirit" Dine at AAA Four Diamond Award-winning Fuego Restaurant or rest your feet at La Posada de Santa Fe Resort & Spa before exploring your next frontier in America's "oldest capital city" or scouting out the downtown and Indian Market.
Rugged But(te) Right (Black Mesa Golf Club)
Architect Baxter Spann, sets the table (Spanish for mesa) for a great banquet for 18 holes, looking like a wild links course with its swaying native grasses. Pull up to the table and say your prayers, the experience of playing Black Mesa Golf Club is a blessing.
Watermelon! Just a Slice of Golf (Sandia Golf Club)
The generous rolling fairways may lull you into thinking your round will be a piece of cake. But there's lots of high desert landscape just waiting to eat you up before you get to the large greens that may mean very long putts if you are not close to the pin.
Westward Ho! Golf Gone Wild (PaaKo Ridge Golf Club) Whether you are an ace golfer or a gourmet golfer like me, don't miss playing this course. If there was a show "Golf gone wild!" this would be at the top of the list.

When it comes to women and golf, it's not just about the swing or the correct putting stroke. No one knows this more than Cindy Reid. Now the director of instruction at the Tournament Players Club at Sawgrass, she's become a world-class teacher in an industry long dominated by men. But Cindy Reid didn't pick up a golf club till she was in her early twenties, and she displays a unique and gifted empathy for the record numbers of women taking up the game, too many of whom find themselves not enjoying it nearly enough. She understands, for example, that women learn the game in a completely different way from men -- their concerns stretch way beyond correct mechanics -- and her guide is filled with positive and easily implemented advice, perfect if you're a beginner, if you can play a bit, or if you're scratch.

Honda Classic at PGA National Resort Playable for Women
The Champions course at PGA National, the new home of the PGA Tour's Honda Classic, is one of my favorite courses. And, I say that as someone who has lived at the PGA National Resort for many years and who has played the course many times - but always from the forward Red tees.
As the Honda Classic hits the headlines, the men will dominate the photos and the news. After all, it is a PGA Tour event. But, women, this course is very playable.
